Simply because:
  • Our tap water in the UK is amongst the very finest water in the world
  • Producing and delivering 1 litre of plastic bottled water uses over 1000 times the energy needed to deliver fresh water from the tap
  • It takes 3 litres of water to produce 1 litre of bottled water
  • The majority of single use plastic bottles end up in landfill, litter or in our seas and waterways
  • Plastic cannot be recycled, only down-cycled. Even down-cycling 1 tonne of plastic emits 1.5 tonnes of CO2
  • 200 litres of oil are used to produce, package and transport 1 litre of bottled water
  • Bottled water can cost up to 2,000 times more than tap water
  • Tap water has more stringent quality standards than bottled water and therefore is both safer and cleaner
  • Plastic used in single use bottles can pose a contamination threat
